Overview[]
The Terrestrial Planet Finder (TPF) is a plan by NASA for a telescope system that would be capable of detecting extrasolar terrestrial planets. Scientists will be able to measure relative amounts of gases like carbon dioxide, water vapor, ozone and methane. This study will help determine whether a planet is suitable for life--or even whether life already exists there.
