Josh Universe is an American analog astronaut, science communicator, and biohacker. He is notable for his contributions to the space industry, particularly in the areas of biohacking and life extension. Universe is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Astronomy and Astrophysics and a Master of Science in Commercial Enterprise in Space at the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). Additionally, he is a scientist-astronaut candidate at the International Institute of Astronautical Sciences (IIAS), where he is engaged in professional training in applied astronautics.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Josh Universe attended Bullitt East High School from 2018 to 2022[1] and Jefferson Community and Technical College from 2020 to 2022. He later relocated to Melbourne, Florida, to further his education at FIT. At FIT, Universe is pursuing dual degrees in Astronomy and Astrophysics and Commercial Enterprise in Space.

Josh Universe is the Chief Executive Officer of Astrochain[2], a US-based space research company that develops blockchain applications for astronomical data and science communication. Astrochain aims to create a decentralized platform to store and share astronomy captures, promoting education, scientific research, and innovation. The platform allows astronomers and hobbyist astrophotographers to mint their work as NFTs, providing cryptographic ownership of their astronomical data. Astrochain has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Space Companies in the United States by F6S[3].

As a science communicator, Josh Universe engages with a broad audience through various digital platforms. Josh Universe is the founder of the International Biohacking Community, an online network that connects individuals interested in biohacking and transhumanism.[7] The community has a significant presence on platforms like Reddit and Discord, and it also features an independent blog and forum. Josh Universe has been involved with NASA through various capacities. He served as a Review Chair and Primary Reviewer for the NASA NPWEE Proposal Board and is the Chief Scientist and Outreach Officer for the NASA L'SPACE Mission Concept Academy. He has completed several eLearning courses through the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), including "Introduction to The Guidelines for the Long-term Sustainability of Outer Space Activities"[8] and "Introduction To The Space Economy."[9]
