Hypothetical Planets are Planets that have not yet been discovered, but are thought to exist for certain reasons to explain phenomena across are solar system that has not been explained yet. Some hypothetical planets are false, due to being disproven to exist.

List[]

Here is a list of the most known Hypothetical Planets.

Name of Hypothetical Planet Distance from Sun (in kilometers) Diameter in kilometers Reason Hypothesized
Vulcan 885 139,2 km 3,500 km To explain perturbations in Mercury’s orbit.
Antichthon 150 000 000 km 12,742 km To support Philolaus' non-geocentric cosmology, in which all objects in the universe revolve around a "Central Fire" (unseen from Earth and distinct from the Sun which also revolves around it).
Nibiru 150 000 000 km 18,000 km End of mayan calendar at December 21, 2012.(?)
Theia 152 887 680 km 6,950 km To explain the creation of the moon.
Phaeton 321 868 800 km 5,560 km To explain the creation and existence of the asteroid belt.
Fifth Giant 2 209 629 312 km 46,500 km Reproduces a number of aspects of the current Solar System.
Planet 9 148 059 648 000 km 48,200 km To explain the strange orbits of comets and TNOs with large orbits (Like Sedna)
Planet 10 852952320000 6,474 Same as Planet 9.
Tyche 2 243 968 065 000 km 160,000 km Whitemire states that Tyche dislodges long-period comets from the Oort Cloud and Tyche may also the tilted orbits of 2006 SQ372 and Sedna, although this is still inconclusive.
Nemesis 950 billion miles 300,000 To explain a perceived cycle of mass extinctions in the geological record, which seem to occur more often at intervals of 26 million years.
Enyo and Bellona ? ? To explain where Mars, the Moon, Pluto, and the other dwarf planets and the formation of Earth, Venus, Mercury, asteroid belt, and comets.
